Welcome to the 9th PAPSA Biennial Paediatric Surgeon’s Conference, Cape Town 18-21 March, 2012
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to this combined conference of the Pan African Association of Paediatric Surgeons [PAPSA] and the South African Association of Paediatric Surgeons [SAAPS], with support from the BAPS International Forum and the World Federation of Associations of Paediatric Surgeons [WOFAPS]. The venue for one of leading pediatric conferences of 2012 is selected is the BMW Pavilion in Cape Town’s Waterfront. The venue has excellent congress facilities and is sited at the world renowned Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Dockyard with its wide selection of hotels and myriad of other attractions. There will be pre-conference courses on the Paediatric Operative Urology [16/03}, A to Z of Minimally Invasive Surgery [17/03], the Hugh Greenwood BAPS Paediatric Surgical Skills Course [18/03] and a post conference Colorectal Course [22 – 23/03] supervised by Mark Levitt from Cincinnati. We will have a superb international faculty with state-of-the-art lectures and a mini-symposia on Haemangiomas & Vascular Malformations and Trauma. The theme of the Congress will be Infections in Paediatric Surgery and Surgical Innovations but submission of papers on all aspects of paediatric surgery pertaining to our continent are most welcome. The SIOP Africa conference will follow at a venue close by and we hope to have at least one combined session with our oncology colleagues currently planned for the afternoon of Wednesday the 21st March. We look forward to seeing as many of our colleagues from the African Continent as possible and also as many of those paediatric surgeons from around the world who can join us at this ‘Tavern of the Seas’. Cape Town, the Western Cape with its balmy weather, beautiful mountains, magnificent scenery, beaches and wild coastline awaits you.
